Albumen (2007)

albumen

We stir the boundaries of styles a little more, we leave familiar territories and set off on the wide sea of music. We will not reach the true essence of music, the heart of music, which always beats in a certain style anyway. Yet we may hear the hum of music as an element that penetrates every style. The albumen is not the heart of everything but the sea in which everything is submerged. It has no other function than this: to surround and pamper everything that is being born, to translate the vibrations of different environments. The secret of music is far better embodied by the albumen sea than by an essence or a heart: the secret that music is an egg and noise at the same time.

What a World (2003)

what a world

If we may use the language of cartography to describe music, then musical styles can be compared to latitudes and longitudes. They are not static points but lines that cross and develop in new and unpredictable directions continuously. Eggnoise have since the very beginning of the group’s existence tried to trace these lines (their original grunge sound was intercepted by the vector of jazz and f/p/unk) and to explore new territories, unknown lands (of hardswing, etc.). Its distinctive mapping of of the world of music is aided by an unconventional combination of instruments (trumpet/violin/flute/trombone) and by a variety of languages (English, Czech, Spanish, French). The series in progress called anytime has become something of a log book for eggnoise. Maps no longer bear phrases like hic sunt leones describing unexplored territories. It would be a mistake, however, to think that everything has already been mapped. For every map can be opened up anytime and anywhere and made to welcome the lions. And it is precisely this openness of musical cartographies to this expression of mystery that is one of the meanings of eggnoise.
